Self-sabotage is a BITCH!Jul 27, 2020
HAVE YOU EVER GOT SO DAMN CLOSE TO A LONGED-FOR GOAL, OR SOMETHING YOU REALLY, REALLY WANT AND THEN BAM – IT ALL FALLS DOWN AROUND YOU?
You start a new diet, you’re going great guns for a week, maybe even two, you’ve lost a kilo or so, you’re feeling slim and energised… and then for some strange, crazy reason, you hit the cupboard and you eat all in sight. A huge binge session to undo all your hard work.
Or you’ve started a new exercise regime, been working out every day, feeling strong, feeling fit, everything is getting easier and then out of the blue you get SICK? And you’re out for the count for the next two weeks – back to square one.
Or you’re in a new relationship – whether a romantic relationship or you’ve just met someone really cool you’d like to hang out with more – maybe they’re like your ideal friend – someone you admire who you really want to like you and have as part of your ‘inner circle’… you catch up once or twice, things are going well… and then you cancel on the next catch up, then the ‘noise’ in your head starts telling you stupid shit like this person doesn’t like you, they’re too good for you, too cool for you, they’re just pitying you.
Or you're just about to hit that new level, new rank, new income bracket in your business, you've been working it, hustling, new customers and team members have been falling in your lap - but suddenly you feel the need to crawl under a rock, not show up and not reply to your messages...
OH MY GOD. FFS. SERIOUSLY?!
I could go through numerous other examples… I’ve been there and done it within the examples above, in my business, with money, with sooooo many things argghhhhh!
It’s called SELF-SABOTAGE.
And we all do it.
AND WE DO IT AT THOSE TIMES WHEN WE ARE JUST ABOUT TO HAVE A GODDAM BREAKTHROUGH! THE SABOTAGE COMES WHEN WE ARE ON THE EDGE OF HITTING A NEW LEVEL IN OUR LIVES.
When we’re STEPPING UP.
But our little self-sabotages do a pretty good job of bringing us back down to earth….
So HOW DO WE AVOID IT? Well awareness of this self-sabotage is the first, possibly, most important step. And becoming aware of where these self-sabotages come from.
Namely our BELIEFS. Usually our LIMITING beliefs. Those beliefs that are so deeply ingrained in our psyche that we don’t even recognise them.
It’s a tough gig to start recognising them, but once you do, it’s quite liberating. Then you can start to see them for what they are and learn to simply throw them away.
CHUCK IT AWAY (AS MY DAD HAS ALWAYS TOLD ME TO DO!).
So how do I get to the point of recognising these limiting beliefs that lead to sabotage? For me, I’ll get out for a walk in the fresh air and meditate on it. Or journal it out. Ask myself the tough questions and remind myself of infinite possibilities.
Whatever you do, you need to remember that the big old Universe WANTS you to have whatever it is you desire and in fact is holding it on a silver platter for you, waiting for you to realise that you are in fact worthy of whatever it is you want, you just need to ask yourself – Where are these thoughts coming from? Are they rational? Are they in fact holding me back? Can I simply CHOOSE to change the way I’m thinking right now and accept all the wonderful changes coming my way?
Whatever you desire is always available to you. You just need to don’t be afraid of it, choose to accept it, embrace it, and go on living your supercharged, trumped up amazing life that you are most certainly worthy of.
